Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Cleset ("we", "us"), the company that makes InsideLife. By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. Please read them; we have kept them as plain as we can. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data.
1. Who can play
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you, and they are responsible for your use of InsideLife.
- You must be 18 or older to rent a business space or book an advert.
2. Your account
- You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password.
- Give us true information, keep your password and devices safe, and tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account.
- One account is for one person. Do not sell, share or lend your account.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account.
3. The game
InsideLife is a shared online world set in real Nigerian cities. It is still growing: we add places, change features, fix bugs and balance the economy. Sometimes the game will be offline for maintenance or because something went wrong. We do our best, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
4. Game money and items
- The naira in the game ("game money") and everything you own in the game (homes, cars, kiosks, clothes and other items) exist only in the game. They are not real money, have no value outside the game, and are not your property; we give you a personal right to use them in the game under these terms.
- Game money cannot be cashed out. It cannot be exchanged for real money, goods or services outside the game, by us or by anyone else.
- Do not buy, sell or trade game money, items or accounts for real money or anything outside the game. Accounts that do will be suspended or closed.
- Game money only moves by the game's rules. If someone gains game money or items through a bug, cheating or fraud, we may suspend or close the account involved.
- If an account is closed, its game money and items are gone and are not refunded.
5. Real money
- Playing InsideLife is free.
- Today, real money is used only by businesses and advertisers, who pay by card for business spaces and billboard adverts through a licensed payment provider. Those payments are covered by the business space terms and the advertiser terms.
- If we later sell anything to players for real money (for example clothes or cosmetic items), it will never buy jobs, skills or an advantage over other players, and the price and terms will be shown before you pay. Purchases inside the Android app go through Google Play and its terms, and inside the iPhone app through the Apple App Store and its terms.
- Your rights as a consumer under the law where you live (in Nigeria, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018; in the UK, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are not affected by these terms.
6. How to behave
InsideLife is a city full of real people. Treat them as you would on a real street. Do not:
- harass, bully, threaten or stalk anyone;
- post hate speech, or attack anyone for their tribe, religion, gender, disability or where they come from;
- post sexual content, or any content that sexualises a child;
- scam people, ask for money, or share phone numbers, bank details or addresses to move people off the game;
- pretend to be someone else, including our staff or a real business you do not represent;
- cheat, use bots, hack, exploit bugs, or interfere with the game or its servers;
- post anything illegal in Nigeria, or encourage anyone to break the law;
- spam or advertise in chat (businesses advertise through the business spaces and billboards).
If you find a bug, please report it to us instead of using it.
7. Chat, reports and moderation
- Chat passes an automatic word filter, and contact details may be hidden.
- You can block any player and report anyone who breaks these rules. Our moderators review reports, including the reported messages.
- We may warn, mute, suspend or ban players who break these terms, and remove anything they posted. For serious breaches we may act without a warning. Where a crime may have happened, we may tell the authorities.
- If you think we got a decision wrong, email us and a different staff member will look at it.
8. What you create
You keep the rights to what you write and upload. You give us a free, worldwide licence to store, show and use it in running and promoting InsideLife (for example showing your chat to other players, or your business sign in the game). You promise you have the right to post it.
9. Our content
The game, its art, code, sounds and the InsideLife name belong to us or our licensors. Do not copy, sell or reverse-engineer them. The city is built using map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence.
10. Real places and businesses
InsideLife is set in real places, and real businesses can rent space and book adverts in it. A business or advert appearing in the game does not mean we endorse it. Deals you make with a business are between you and that business.
11. Ending your account
You can stop playing and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. If we ever close InsideLife for good, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the game.
12. Our responsibility
We provide InsideLife "as is". As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that are indirect or that we could not reasonably foresee, for losing game money or items, or for what other players do. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the game grows. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the game or by email before they apply. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If we have a disagreement, please email us first and we will try to sort it out. If we cannot, the courts of England and Wales will decide. If you live outside the UK, for example in Nigeria, you keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live, and you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
